Evaluation of Plasma C-Reactive Protein as a Biomarker in Dogs with Atopic Dermatitis Receiving Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy: A Pilot Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this pilot study, we wished to determine if C-reactive protein (CRP) levels could be a useful severity or treatment biomarker for canine atopic dermatitis (AD). Nine dogs received allergen immunotherapy 1 year. Blood was collected before and at four re-evaluation visits. At each time point, the skin lesions were graded with Canine Atopic Dermatitis Extent Severity Index (CADESI) 4, plasma CRP measured by Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). We found significant yet minimal correlation between CADESI4 scores. The not significantly different AD of increasing severity. Finally, there no percentage change in values during immunotherapy. conclusion, lack difference changes lesion suggest that would clinically-useful dogs.

Allergen specific immunotherapy for atopic dermatitis.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To describe recent developments as well as the pros and cons of allergen specific immunotherapy as a putative therapeutic option for a subgroup of patients with atopic dermatitis. RECENT FINDINGS The question whether specific immunotherapy would impair or improve the severity and course of atopic dermatitis has been a matter of debate for a long time. Double-blind placebo-co...

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a widespread and difficult to treat allergic skin disease and is a tough challenge for healthcare. In this study, we investigated whether allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) with a monomeric allergoid obtained by succinylation of ovalbumin (sOVA) is effective in a mouse model of atopic dermatitis. An experimental model of AD was reproduced by epicutaneous sensitizat...

Despite the existence of various scientific research on the beneficial effect of specific immunotherapy with specific airborne allergens in the treatment of atopic dermatitis, this method has not been easily accepted, as the methodology and the valuation of the studies were heterogeneous. Over the last few years, meta-analysis technology has been developed as a useful tool to globally value the...
